Photography Competition & Exhibition 2022

From Albion Street to Moreland Road, this year’s Faces Behind the Scene captured just some of the dedicated people that make Sydney Road Brunswick so unique, diverse and wonderful. From butchers and chefs; tailormade fashions and costumery; pastry icons and sweet sensations; retail, spice, health, and secondhand specialists– this year’s exhibition again highlighted the uniqueness of our precinct, our people, and their passions.

On Saturday 22 October the Sydney Road Brunswick Association held the Awards for this year’s competition, with expert photographers Nicole Cleary, Penny Stephens, Chris Hopkins and Sarah Matray judging this year’s entries.

Overall, the judges were hugely impressed with the outcomes by everyone. With the finished products truly capturing the character and heart of each subject. New for 2022, the written pieces that accompanied each photograph were also considered in judging – which further described the outcome by the photographer.

After careful deliberation, the Judges awarded the following:
1^st Prize: Katherine Jenkins
2^nd Prize: Maite Arbidula
Honourable Mentions: Adam Tucker, Kath Kelly & Pamela Kleemann-Passi

Our June photography competition & exhibition took place in the North end of our Sydney Road Brunswick and the October event took place in the South end; both exhibitions were showcased in participating shop windows and lasted 4 weeks each. Photographers captured the faces and skills behind some of Sydney Road’s most iconic businesses and shops.
