The Sydney Road Brunswick Association (SRBA) is an initiative of local business operators to help support the overall growth and development of the Sydney Road Brunswick retail strip.
Sydney Road, Brunswick is one of the southern hemispheres longest retail strips, just a ten-minute tram ride from Melbourne’s CBD. Boasting languages, atmospheres and flavours from around the world, Sydney Road Brunswick offers an incredible array of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, shops and professional services, each with a unique and authentic vibe. Multicultural to the core, Sydney Road, Brunswick is quintessentially Melbourne and a go-to destination for locals and visitors alike.
The Committee of Management of the Association is drawn from the business operators along Sydney Road Brunswick who volunteer their time to jointly discuss ideas and activities to promote and market the street, which is then facilitated by SRBA Manager Troy Stuchbree.
MISSION: Our mission is to represent our traders on areas of most value to their business and to work with our partners in positioning Sydney Road Brunswick into a thriving shopping strip which is of benefit to the whole community.
VISION: Sydney Road Brunswick is the destination of choice for locals and visitors who want to explore the unique and authentic experience of multicultural Melbourne.
What does the SRBA do?
The Association is contracted through the Merri-bek City Council, and funding is generated by a ‘Special Levy’ collected via the Council Rates on over 500 businesses in the Sydney Road retail strip (between Brunswick Road and Moreland Road). The Association has a Business Plan which sets out how the promotion and marketing of the street will be achieved – and in particular, the strong emphasis on seeing Sydney Road become an eclectic destination that offers a diverse and authentic experience of multicultural Melbourne.
Join the Committee
The SRBA Committee of Management currently meets monthly (second Tuesday of the month 6-8pm) at the SRBA Office at 454 Sydney Road Brunswick. We aim to represent the street at local council, state and federal government levels and in general.
We encourage you to think about becoming a committee member (must have a Sydney Road Brunswick address – boundary between Brunswick Road and Moreland Road) to help the Association support and sustain our Sydney Road Brunswick shopping strip. If you are interested please:

The benefits of joining the committee:
- Becoming a committee member is a great way to meet other business operators and contribute to the street as a whole.
- We aim to have representation from the four different precincts in the street and a variety of business types so all your contributions are valued.
- Ideas are presented and discussed, projects and events undertaken and issues raised. This gives YOU a voice and an opportunity to make a difference.
SRBA AGMs
We welcome all Sydney Road Brunswick Association members to attend our annual AGM.
NB: All shop owners and tenants along Sydney Road Brunswick (Brunswick Rd to Moreland Rd) are eligible to become members.
Attending the SRBA AGM provides you with a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of the benefits of the association, what we do and how you can get involved. It is also the forum where the past year’s achievements are outlined, any important changes for this year are heard, the following year’s committee is nominated and you can have your say. We also host special guest speakers from the council and elsewhere, for you to address directly.
