SYDNEY ROAD BRUNSWICK HISTORY TOUR: 3rd date

Following the success of our first history tours in April 2022 (which focused on key buildings from Brunswick Road to Glenlyon Road), we’ve teamed up with the Brunswick Community History Group again to arrange the next instalment! Which will take place from Glenlyon Road to Victoria Street. Book your tickets here
Lead by local historian Simon Pryor from the Brunswick Community History Group, tours will take a leisurely walk along Sydney Road Brunswick, with 14 locations of interest for a deep dive into the history.
Stops on the walking tour include:
- Brunswick Mechanic’s Institute
- Free Speech Memorial
- The Retreat Hotel
- St Ambrose Church
- The Empire Theatre (now Aldi)
- Tough’s Ironmongers (now Bombay Rock)
- Davison’s Grocery Store (now Bombay Rock)
- Brunswick Ballroom
- Wesleyan Church
- Cumberland Arms Hotel (now Rascal)
- Brunswick Post Office (now Penny’s Bandroom & A Little Room for Icecream)
- The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel
- Brunswick Mess Hall
- Former Coles & Woolworth’s Variety Stores
At the conclusion of the tour, attendees can enjoy a complimentary coffee – providing an opportunity to have a casual chat with Simon and take in the historical significance of it all.
Walking tours run for approximately 1.5 hours and take place on Saturday 2 July, Wednesday 6 July and Saturday 9 July – from 11am-12:30pm.
Tickets are $15 each and spaces are limited, as the walking group is capped at 15. So be sure to secure your place!

Please note ticket purchases attract an additional ticket fee of 50 cents.
