Short Film Competition 2016

April 12, 2016 - April 21, 2016

The Sydney Road Brunswick Association Short Film Competition is back in 2016!

From avant-garde music videos to a battle between local baristas, a diverse range of shorts by emerging local talent will have you on the edge of your seat.

Sponsored by the Sydney Road Brunswick Association, the short film competition provides an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to win a share of $5,000 cash prizes with shorts up to 5 minutes.

A $3,000 cash prize will be awarded to the winner of the open genre Sydney Road category – keep an eye out for your favourite Sydney Road spots!

This year, the addition of the ‘Music Video’ category showcases our vibrant local music scene and provides budding talent with the opportunity to win a $1,500 cash prize.

Audiences will be welcomed to screenings at Sydney Road venues the Penny Black and Bar Estrella on Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 April.

In a first for the festival, the Grand Finale screening will be held under the stars at the new Wilson Avenue Park, 103 Sydney Road Brunswick.

Projected on the latest Blow-up screen, the final 10 films can be viewed with wine glass in hand, homemade pies and relax in the deck chair. Local bottle shops are providing a nice range of wines and beers, and hopefully a ‘cinema snack’ addition.

It’s a great night out, and oh so cheap with just a gold coin donation and $5 on the grand final night.
