What

Tribal Bellydance is a modern form of bellydance integrating elements of folkloric, gypsy and nomadic dances from Egypt, North Africa and others, classical Indian and flamenco. Dancers provide a spectacle with large voluminous tiered skirts, colourful scarves, mirror/shisha, fringing, tassels, coin bras, choli tops, hair flowers, heavy ethnic antique jewellery and finger cymbals.

About

Entwined Bellydance is the creative project of Laura Entwined, an accomplished solo and troupe dancer, troupe director/choreographer and teacher. She has been studying this dance form and performing for over 10 years, and teaching successful weekly classes in Melbourne for 4 years. She has performed internationally and interstate, as well as numerous festivals and events across Victoria. Ghawazi Rose Tribal is the umbrella project for her forays into improvised/American Tribal Style. The troupe has performed at a number of community festivals, events and fundraisers. A number of members live, work, study or recreate in Melbourne’s north, including Brunswick. Members range in ages from 21 – 45 years and are from a range of cultural, economic and social backgrounds.
