in Sydney Road Brunswick

Referred to as the ‘longest shopping strip in the Southern hemisphere’, Sydney Road spreads the length of 2 suburbs within Moreland, from Brunswick to Coburg.

The SRBA covers 2.7 km, from Brunswick Road to Moreland Road. This is currently made up of approx. 530 mixed businesses and shops, (including a few on Level 1 and Barkly Square Shopping mall ) with 604 actual properties.  A handful of these, which were once classed as one large frontage, have been developed into blocks of units and divided the lower frontage, into 2-4 shop fronts.

Sydney Road Brunswick map

Sydney Road is a long stretch of road and not so much a ‘hub’ (apart from Barkly Square), but if divided into 4, each sector has a supermarket, P.O. , newsagent, bank and fresh fruit & vegetables. It remains a ‘mixed business’ strip, which attracts people for many different reasons and several long-established icon businesses draw customers & visitors from all over Melbourne and even from the regional areas.

Sydney Road could be described as an exciting road of discovery, authentic, diverse and a very ‘real’ place to explore. It’s relaxed and accepting of everyone.
