ANSTEY VILLAGE FESTIVAL 2017

Sunday 2 April was a fun day filled with music, dance, arts and culture. Approx. 600 people attended the event, held in Anstey… with a surprising Cape Competition !

The ‘Little Jones St ‘ car park was transformed into a mini-festival – with Community stalls and local businesses – all celebrating Anstey’s diverse community. Great live music and dance troupes involved everyone with a broad range of performances by Jadida, Jafra Palestinian Dabke Dance, Jungle Dance Studios and The Senegambian Jazz Band.

Sydney Road’s Haya Atelier shared their style with Festivalgoers and Crafternoon café had an amazing arts and crafts workshop stall.
The cape competition was quite a sight, kids and adults alike wearing their DIY-ed capes. Incredible !

Thank you to all the Sydney Road businesses who jumped on board and got involved- and donated prizes for the cape competition, including Mary Eats Cake, Edinburgh Castle , Villain and Round and Round Records.
Attendees were encouraged to eat at the local restaurants- with a specials menu board highlighted on the day.
Thanks to Crafternoon and Bar Oussou for being the Community sponsors at this event and a huge thanks to EVERYDAY PEOPLE (organisers) for co-ordinating the event and to Moreland City Council for partnering withthe SRBA in being the main Sponsors of the event.
